A Stranger in Our Midst

Obama, Robert Weissberg 3 Comments

As campaigning is slowly upon us, Americans will be told all sorts of things and they will be in the position of forgetting some specifics about this administration.

Perhaps they have had a hard time expressing their feelings about the Obama administration?

Let’s not forget  some highlights from the distant past. I think the author did a great job in portraying our feelings.

A Stranger in Our Midst

By Robert Weissberg, Professor of Political Science – Emeritus at the University of Illinois, Urbana

As the Obama administration enters its second year, I — and undoubtedly millions of others — have struggled to develop a shorthand term that captures our emotional unease. Defining this discomfort is tricky. I reject nearly the entire Obama agenda, but the term “being opposed” lacks an emotional punch. Nor do terms like “worried” or “anxious” apply. I was more worried about America’s future during the Johnson or Carter years, so it’s not that dictionary, either. Nor, for that matter, is this about backroom odious deal-making and pork, which are endemic in American politics.

After auditioning countless political terms, I finally realized that the Obama administration and its congressional collaborators almost resemble a foreign occupying force, a coterie of politically and culturally non-indigenous leaders whose rule contravenes local values rooted in our national tradition. It is as if the United States has been occupied by a foreign power, and this transcends policy objections. It is not about Obama’s birthplace. It is not about race, either; millions of white Americans have had black mayors and black governors, and this unease about out-of-synch values never surfaced.

The term I settled on is “alien rule” — based on outsider values, regardless of policy benefits — that generates agitation. This is what bloody anti-colonial strife was all about. No doubt, millions of Indians and Africans probably grasped that expelling the British guaranteed economic ruin and even worse governance, but at least the mess would be their mess. Just travel to Afghanistan and witness American military commanders’ efforts to enlist tribal elders with promises of roads, clean water, dental clinics, and all else that America can freely provide. Many of these elders probably privately prefer abject poverty to foreign occupation since it would be their poverty, run by their people, according to their sensibilities.

This disquiet was a slow realization. Awareness began with Obama’s odd pre-presidency associations, decades of being oblivious to Rev. Wright’s anti-American ranting, his enduring friendship with the terrorist guy-in-the-neighborhood Bill Ayers, and the Saul Alinsky-flavored anti-capitalist community activism. Further add a hazy personal background — an Indonesian childhood, shifting official names, and a paperless-trail climb through elite educational institutions.

None of this disqualified Obama from the presidency; rather, this background just doesn’t fit with the conventional political résumé. It is just the “outsider” quality that alarms. For all the yammering about George W. Bush’s privileged background, his made-in-the-USA persona was absolutely indisputable. John McCain might be embarrassed about his Naval Academy class rank and iffy combat performance, but there was never any doubt of his authenticity. Countless conservatives despised Bill Clinton, but nobody ever, ever doubted his good-old-boy American bonafides.

The suspicion that Obama is an outsider, a figure who really doesn’t “get” America, grew clearer from his initial appointments. What “native” would appoint Kevin Jennings, a militant gay activist, to oversee school safety? Or permit a Marxist rabble-rouser to be a “green jobs czar”? How about an Attorney General who began by accusing Americans of cowardice when it comes to discussing race? And who can forget Obama’s weird defense of his pal Louis Henry Gates from “racist” Cambridge, Massachusetts cops? If the American Revolution had never occurred and the Queen had appointed Obama Royal Governor (after his distinguished service in Kenya), a trusted locally attuned aide would have first whispered in his ear, “Mr. Governor General, here in America, we do not automatically assume that the police were at fault,” and the day would have been saved.

And then there’s the “we are sorry, we’ll never be arrogant again” rhetoric seemingly designed for a future President of the World election campaign. What made Obama’s Cairo utterances so distressing was how they grated on American cultural sensibilities. And he just doesn’t notice, perhaps akin to never hearing Rev. Wright anti-American diatribes. An American president does not pander to third-world audiences by lying about the Muslim contribution to America. Imagine Ronald Reagan, or any past American president, trying to win friends by apologizing. This appeal contravenes our national character and far exceeds a momentary embarrassment about garbled syntax or poor delivery. Then there’s Obama’s bizarre, totally unnecessary deep bowing to foreign potentates. Americans look foreign leaders squarely in the eye and firmly shake hands; we don’t bow.

But far worse is Obama’s tone-deafness about American government. How can any ordinary American, even a traditional liberal, believe that jamming through unpopular, debt-expanding legislation that consumes one-sixth of our GDP, sometimes with sly side-payments and with a thin majority, will eventually be judged legitimate? This is third-world, maximum-leader-style politics. That the legislation was barely understood even by its defenders and vehemently championed by a representative of that typical American city, San Francisco, only exacerbates the strangeness. And now President Obama sides with illegal aliens over the State of Arizona, which seeks to enforce the federal immigration law to protect American citizens from marauding drug gangs and other miscreants streaming in across the Mexican border.

Reciprocal public disengagement from President Obama is strongly suggested by recent poll data on public trust in government. According to a recent Pew report, only 22% of those asked trust the government always or most of the time, among the lowest figures in half a century. And while pro-government support has been slipping for decades, the Obama presidency has sharply exacerbated this drop. To be sure, many factors (in particular the economic downturn) contribute to this decline, but remember that Obama was recently elected by an often wildly enthusiastic popular majority. The collapse of trust undoubtedly transcends policy quibbles or a sluggish economy — it is far more consistent with a deeper alienation.

Perhaps the clearest evidence for this “foreigner in our midst” mentality is the name given our resistance — tea parties, an image that instantly invokes the American struggle against George III, a clueless foreign ruler from central casting. This history-laden label was hardly predetermined, but it instantly stuck (as did the election of Sen. Scott Brown as “the shot heard around the world” and tea partiers dressing up in colonial-era costumes). Perhaps subconsciously, Obama does remind Americans of when the U.S. was really occupied by a foreign power.

A Declaration of Independence passage may still resonate: “HE [George III] has erected a Multitude of new Offices [Czars], and sent hither Swarms of Officers [recently hired IRS agents] to harass our People, and eat out their substance.”

JOB CREATION: TOP 10+ SOLUTIONS OR HOW TO REGAIN THE 6 MILLION LOST JOBS

Obama, job creation No Comments

#10- Do not let the Bush Tax Cuts  expire – continue these successful incentives to job creation. Bush tax cuts were from 15% to 10%. 25% to 15%.  Obama’s increase will be 33% to 36%,  36% to 40%, tax rates.

#9 – Across the board tax cuts for all Americans.  61% of All Americans believe tax cuts help the economy.  59% of all Americans believe tax breaks help create jobs (more jobs are created by the use of tax breaks, than in use of tax increases).  46% of all Americans believe in tax cuts for all Americans.

#8-Obama ceases and desists in bad mouthing and putting down businesses in his speeches, interviews, and stops using business as a bogey man and scape goat, and stops using business as his excuse to misdirecting the American population, and as his administration’s excuse for its failures and short comings.

#7- Immediate tax break, coupled with favoritism  and cooperation to all corporations and all small business. Obama must use his  speeches and advertisement campaigns to create a government  now friendly to business  and no longer anti business; a government that is  encouraging to business and thereby creating this  business friendly atmosphere throughout the country in order to attract, create and encourage the development of private sector jobs.  FDR’s mistakes in the 1930’s was to increase tax on business and high earners; this resulted in a cut in spending and crushed new job creation, and forced a great depression that was longer and more severe through his costly mistake.

#6- Immediate cut in inheritance tax. Cut and eliminate all entitlement programs. Cut back and eliminate unions and end Obama’s support for unions; a totally unethical practice of government. The top 10 states that have big unions are all in big fiscal trouble with huge deficits huge unbalanced budgets and exorbitant tax’s. Just look at NY, NJ, VT,  ME, CA. Cut back on huge government and recreate and nuture small government.

#5- Immediately recind and return of all TARP and all unspent stimulus funds back to the government to bring down this unrealistic, unsustainable and crushing debt the Obama government has plunged our country and our children into this abyss.

#4-Obama ceases and desists from his continuing use of class warfare, in all speeches and all policies. Obama”s freeze on stimulus and non defense spending should start now; at once, not one year from now as he proposes. (Just to give Americans a head fake and misdirect  the voters.) Activate immediate term limits on all elected officials.

#3- Government moratorium on expansion of  government jobs. Federal government created jobs cost  the country $120,000 per job which are paid through tax increases and  tax revenues. Private sector creation of jobs cost the corporation $45,000 per job and cost the US taxpayer $0 in tax revenue.

#2- Repeal all health care iniatives and reforms, throw out all  this regressive legislation and attemped  Obama government take over of 1/6 of Americas GDP. Return all business taken over by Big Obama. Return all banks; Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, GMAC. Return all insurance companies, AIG. Return all automobile companies, General Motors.

#2a-Immediately rescind all favored tax breaks for oil and gas companies and open up an abundance of territories including Anwar for oil and gas explorations.

#1- Return to our  ideals: THAT THE BUSINESS OF AMERICA IS BUSINESS

How American Lost The Cold War

Climategate, Obama, communism, socialism No Comments

When I was growing up, a child going to public school, it was common practice to have an Air Raid Nuclear Attach Drill in class. It consisted of a shrill alert being sounded on the public address system and then all the public school children proceeding to hide under their desks, to protect themselves from the nuclear explosion and fall out from the atomic bomb attack that just would have occurred. This defensive maneuver would indeed save our lives. How immature and precious and innocent we all were in those days. We  also believed that when we won the cold war we were waging against Soviet Russia, we would be rescued from the impending anihalation from the Red Threat. Kennedy won in Cuba by forcing the USSR to remove its missiles and its military might from the Cuban soil; a sure victory in the pursuit of the Cold War competition. President Reagan brought down the hideous Berlin War and caused it to cumble, and then proceeded to topple the evil empire. The Soviet Socialist Republic breaking; without America firing a single shot, surely the greatest victory, in sealing the coffin of the cold war and ending it forever. And yet, as we sit here and reflect, we have certainly lost in our battle against the cold war and the  Communist, Socialist threat that is now supreme in our country. Our education system has been the first victim and proof of us losing the cold war. Colleges are overrun with left leaning and socialist sprewing professors who totally work and have succeeded in brainwashing our next generations. Colleges have made it next to impossible for a conservative opinionated professor to work and teach, let alone to receive tenure. The majority of our high schools, middle schools, primary schools, public schools  are all being taught, as well as controlled by lefties, hell bent on indoctrination, and swaying our youngsters into the liberal, mind trap. The print news media and the television news media are ruled by the communist liberal elite who censor and spin the news to reflect their far out, and way out socialist, liberal agenda, pushing their opinions and tripe as fact and doctrine. As proven by their handling of Climategate, they have hidden away the facts from the public through their  censorship and bias reporting of their news. And of course our administration, Obama’s appointees are infested. They turn out not only to be tax cheats, but Anita Dunn, Communications Director (resigned recently) telling us that the Chinese Communist Mao is the idol of their life, and someone to look up to and immulate, (even though Communist Mao accounted for the killing of 56 million  Chinese citizens). Topping it all off, is our Obama, who was voted #1 in the senate, as the most liberal of all the senators. He told us all along when he was running for president that change is what he would give you. Through his socialist, communist manifesto, changes are quickly  rearing its ugly head. He has taken over our banking industry, our insurance industry, our auto industry, and his government is on the path of taking over and ruling and ruining, our huge health care industry which is 1/6 of our economy. Our  free speech rights are Obama’s next infringement  and takeaway target, through his  implementing  limitations. As Obama always told us, all he wants to do is redistribute your money; a Communist/Socialist could not be any clearer.

HELLO, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

2009 Elections, Corzine-Christie, New Jersey, Obama, healthcare plan, media, politics, tea party, town hall meetings 2 Comments

Democrats and liberals alike are cringing in fear ,confusion, and dread over the resounding defeat they suffered from the monumental election results.

The elections show that Mr. Obama, his power grab, and his socialist ideas have been rejected and that the people are willing to vote his cronies and henchmen who follow him out of office.  In  New Jersey and Virginia,  states that Obama easily won in a landside vote this past presidential election, have turned away from the big spending, huge government ,cradle to grave freebie mentality that Obama dictates. The electorate is willing to speak out with their vote and throw these power hungry villians out into the streets. When the people’s calls, letters, tea parties, town hall meetings,  protests fall on the administration’s deaf and dumb ears, the electoriate will go to the poles and show these lustful demigods that their will and desires will be respected and followed or else the usurpers will be looking for a job. Obama fought hard in maintaining the status quo in getting the losers reelected by  campaigning vigoriously in New Jersey and Virginia with Vice Biden, Oprah, and Michelle Obama all campaining and continuing to spout the spin and misrepresentations that have been so prevelant a part of the rhetoric that is constantly sprewed by  everything that Mr. Obama and his henchmen touch and stand for. All their charisma has failed to fool and produce the needed and desired results to keep the present X elected officials in office. At present, his spin artists in the administration have been churning and  turning and twisting everything in every which way,  into having the population believe that the election results  are just a trivial bump in the road to their socialist,  communist pathway to controlling and taking away the  rights of the people. In private the Obamas, the Harry Reids, Pelosis, the czars,  the liberal congressmen, and left wing house representatives know through fear of their own impending future loss in their upcoming elections, they have  come to the realization in their black hearts that they are on the brink of political elimination if they continue to follow this fuhrer blindly in his quest to take control of health care, eliminate free enterprise, increase strangling taxation, take over banking, insurance, and the automobile industries. Let these election results, be an eye opener for all, the people are not going to sit back and let this country be raped and changed into a third  rate nation, by anyone, even someone who knows how to make a good speech  and has the news medias hypnotized and whose wife has  arms, you and those who trespass on our freedoms will be voted out, into the scrape pile of X government representatives, GUARANTEED.

Free Speech: It’s Not Only For Liberals

Everyone I met in DC this 911 Weekend was so excited to have an opportunity to speak their mind. More than that, they were hoping to have their voice heard in DC and in America. It was outstanding and a great effort. We came from near and far. I met fellow citizens from all over the country and, in my opinion, probably more than anything else, we all had hope to have a voice.

The signs were great, the costumes where great and there were concerned citizens of all ages. I met the nicest people and I enjoyed hearing everyone’s stories. A wonderful woman came to celebrate her birthday because that’s how she wanted to celebrate by herself but with people that she connects with. I met someone who worked in a hospital in Massachusetts and I heard about the mandatory health insurance in the state. Stories about obtaining emergency health care in Canada, a single parent woman who finds it important to talk to women before they are about to have an abortion, a man told me about the corruption in the New Jersey welfare system. The list goes on and on. I’m getting my pictures together, but the one I included in this post was the last one taken before I left DC on September 13, the following day.

After the 912 March I collapsed on my hotel bed eager to see the coverage on the news. I was watching Fox and they had a short clip from the march and a one sentence coverage on it. I then learned about Obama’s Minneapolis Event on the same day. They knew exactly how many showed up and I heard his campaign for Obamacare and his warning of the scare tactics against it. It seemed like the world moved on.

Additionally, don’t forget, Obama addressed the nation last week selling Obamacare. It was as if the August Town Hall Meetings never existed.

It was wonderful that there was overwhelming participation and I’m ready to do it again next year or before. I have to say this. Was our message heard? Or is our message covered up and will policies go through even though the people are protesting against them?

This is why I made free speech bags. I want my message of freedom to be in their face everyday, not just on 912. We need to get louder, but in a smart way. Join me. Perhaps we can wake America up.

Hope and Change for My Children; A Mother’s Wish

Obama, education No Comments

It’s unbelievable. It should be a nice and innocent gesture when the president would like to address children. But this is the year we have Barack Obama as president and this is the year of hope and change.

On a personal note, my twins will be graduating high school this year. How’s that for hope and change? I have been counting down the years for a long time. Every year has been painful to endure. Yes, I love my children and they are wonderful, but the educational system is not at the level of my expectations for my smart children. Let’s just keep this sweet and short and say the attitudes of the administration and probably most of the educators I have encountered is less than to be desired.

If we had a choice as to which school to enroll our children in and money was paid to schools based on the performance of schools, schools would compete for enrollment. Teachers would not be snippy to parents and children, administrators would not be defensive (and vice a versa). School teachers would have to work and try to teach. They would care. At minimum, they would want to be there. Sorry, to any of you teachers who do not fit into this description; I had some hairy experiences. I’m hoping a few of you still like your job and do not have horns.

So what I am saying is this. The more freedom we have to choose which school and what type of education we want for our children, the better the education and the better it is for our children. (Additionally, the more teachers would enjoy their job.) This is exactly opposite to what Obama believes and will enact. He wants us to help him, to idolize him, to serve him. As seen in this video which was shown to Utah students. Pledging our president. I think we have it wrong. He is pledging us; we, the people, not the other way around. Governments in communist and socialist countries actively look to get the support of their children. As adults, it’s too late to indoctrinate us. If I am off base on this, then why did the Obama team alter his post speech lesson plan to the American students and appear to make Obama’s Lesson more innocent and central and American?

In Michelle Malkin’s article, she describes why parents are up in arms because our president would like to address our children. Basically, you need to learn the history of Mr. Obama and his past associations and given the fact that our children are young and impressionable, they can easily be molded into an Obama, kool-aid drinking, follower.

I believe that Obama is 90% campaigner and (I’m being too nice) 10% president and with those qualifications, we can’t subject our children to him and his sneaky sales pitch. Once again, thank goodness my children are the oldest which he will be addressing, and, even then, they are so impressionable. Bottom line, he’s cool. And that ’s not a good thing to subject your child to.

Did you see the clip of Obama/Biden visiting a school? After shaking hands with children they set up a photo shoot placing some small children on Obama’s lap. The whole presidency is staged. So why would visiting a school be any different? As we all know, kids and puppies sell things. Why would Obama miss this opportunity to use children to sell himself?

Obama’s history, during his presidency and before, his arrogant, narcissistic performance in presenting Americans as his servants, and his follow up lesson plan asking children to analyze his speech, specifically with Mr. Obama as the central focus of the speech, makes a parent worry. As Dr. Melissa Clouthier claims, children have their own dreams of success and sitting through a president’s speech of empty words is not what parents want.

My own dreams for my children’s future are tarnished. They walked into school twelve years ago with all the abilities to go anywhere and they are walking out of their preliminary school years with an average or above average qualifications. Where to go next? We will be deciding on the best possible, and most probably, extremely liberal undergraduate school(s) because that’s our choice right now.

Obama’s Facts Are Not On His Side

Health Insurance, Obama, Obamacare, healthcare plan No Comments

This is a great article. Basically, it is pointed out repeatedly “he doesn’t explain”. Just keep that in mind. He doesn’t ever explain, because if he did, his supporters would actually understand what his motives are. What needs to be pointed out is the fact that there is a great discussion about health care and health care insurance. You can save your breath because it’s not even about that. All he is after is control and this gives him and his friends a great cover to do just that, control individuals and have them rely on him and his elected officials.

The Ultimate Control

Health Insurance, Obama, Obamacare, government control, healthcare plan No Comments

Sweetness & Light has an article that simply explains why government will have ultimate control over our lives if the government health care bill gets passed.

Additionally, here’s a great comment on this post:

Excellent summary of the House Death Care Bill:

A few items that caught my eye:

- Sec. 123, Pg. 30 – THERE WILL BE A GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE deciding what treatments and benefits you get.
- Sec. 152, Pg. 50-51 – HC will be provided to ALL NON-US citizens.
- Sec. 163, Pg. 58-59 beginning at line 5 – Government will have real-time access to individual’s finances & a National ID health care card will be issued!
- Sec. 164, Pg. 65 is a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in unions & community organizations (ACORN).
- Sec. 205, Pg. 95, Lines 8-18 – The government will use groups (i.e., ACORN & AmeriCorps) to “inform and educate” (sign up) individuals for government plan.
- Sec. 223, Pg. 124, Lines 24-25 – No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No “administrative of judicial review” against a government monopoly.
- Sec. 225, Pg. 127, Lines 1-16 – Doctors – the government will tell YOU what you can make. “The Secretary shall provide for the annual participation of physicians under the public health insurance option
- Sec. 401.59B, Pg. 167, Lines 18-23 – ANY individual who does not have acceptable care, according to government, will be taxed 2.5% of income.
- Sec. 59B, Pg. 170, Line 1 – Any NONRESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes. (Americans will pay for their health care.)
- Sec. 1156, Pg. 317, Lines 13-20 – “PROHIBITION on physician ownership or Investment.” Government tells doctors what/how much they can own.
- Sec. 1308, Pg. 489 – The government will cover Marriage and Family therapy. This will involve government control of your marriage.
- Sec. 1401, Pg. 503, Lines 13-19 – The government will build registries and data networks from YOUR electronic medical records. “The Center may secure directly from any department or agency of the United States information necessary to enable it to carry out this section.”
- Sec. 1501 (beginning), Pg. 659-670 – Doctors in Residency – government will tell you where your residency will be, thus where you’ll live.
- Sec. 1651, Pg. 734, Lines 16-25 – Proposes, for law enforcement sake, that the Secretary of HHS will give Attorney General access to ALL medical data.Sec. 440, Pg. 837-839 – The government will design and implement Home Visitation Program for families with young kids and families that are expecting children.
- Sec. 1904, Pg. 843-844 – This Home Visitation Program includes the government coming into your house and teaching/telling you how to parent!
- Sec. 2251, Pg. 915 – Government MANDATES cultural and linguistic competency training for HC professionals

That’s just a sample.

Beyond stunning.

“I Honestly Don’t Get It”

Health Insurance, Obama, freedom of speech, government control, healthcare plan No Comments

According to today’s Yahoo News Article they are not getting it. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania appreciates people’s right to freedom of speech, and he said we even have a right to be organized, but according to him, this is not the majority in America.  That’s very convenient of him to address these issues. He is saying, “I hear you, it’s ok to talk, but really what you say means nothing because I choose to believe that you are not what most of us want.” Nice strategy for a politician. Did he learn that in the Democrat’s war room? If this is really what everyone wants and it is so popular, why is there a war room to help them come up with answers to these questions? How much credibility does this man have after changing parties on his constituents.

I particularly love the reaction of Claire McCaskill of Missouri. “I don’t understand this rudeness. I honestly don’t get it.” She spoke to the crowd as a mother scolding her children and she even spelled it out and plainly said it. She is not our mother. We are adults.

What do you think of Obama’s Town Hall meeting? I didn’t see the whole thing, but I believe it was quite orderly and too quiet. Is there anything this man does that is not staged? Will this campaign ever end? Michelle Malkin, as always, has a great article showing Obama’s human props. Take a look at Bulletprof Diction for some great information on this.

No, I am sorry to say they honestly don’t get it. The only thing that will hit home will be too late. Vote them out.

North Arlington New Jersey Trying To Close the Door on Government Control

Health Insurance, Obama, government control, healthcare plan, town hall meetings 1 Comment

Because I was late attending the North Arlington, New Jersey Town Hall Meeting yesterday and because the meeting was filled to capacity, I needed to wait outside  with some other concerned citizens. Most were your average citizens, all with their own stories. It seemed like we all held similar concerns, similar beliefs, and similar frustrations. Also, there were a few that carried professional looking signs in favor of healthcare reform. I was told that in small print was printed “moveon.org”. They were clearly the minority.

I keep thinking that if (or actually, when) this bill or a revised bill on healthcare gets passed there is an open door. A door open for government control over our individual liberties. Perhaps they will make revisions and  tell us that government will not be the only option in providing health care insurance, or we will have the choice to go to our preferred doctors, there will not be any rationing and we won’t have to kill off those that do not contribute to society. Perhaps they will. Just as Steve Rothman of New Jersey promised, he will not sign a bill with these controls. But it was obvious that he wants to sign a healthcare bill.

Even if they do that and create a bill that grants no controls at all (actually I don’t see how this is possible, but I’ll give my skeptics the benefit of the doubt), the door is open. Open for slight adjustments as time allows.

Not to bring religion into this, but there is a critical time in the Jewish calendar. God opens the Book of Life and Death. A time when it is decided who shall live and who shall die in the coming year. This critical time is for ten days. And we recite how those chosen will die: “who by fire, who by water, who in the sunshine, who in the night time”. And it goes on and on. But, never in one’s wildest dreams would we imagine reciting “who by government control”.

Perhaps you don’t believe in a higher force that controls who lives and who dies. Perhaps I’m going a little overboard in this comparison, but the door is open at this time in our history. Our government is in crisis mode pushing through reforms as quickly as possible. The fact that we are even asking and debating, and they are trying to coverup their intentions and trying to answer these questions shows that our government is trying to control our lives. It’s our job to use this time to present the case that we don’t want these controls over our lives and perhaps controls over our death.
