The Motor Vehicle Bureau and Obamacare

Motor Vehicle Agency, Obamacare, Rush Holt No Comments

I’m sure at some point you have had the opportunity to walk into a state Motor Vehicle Agency. Not a great experience in my opinion. Well, I have had the occasion recently which will leave my family not like it was before that date. We went in, myself and my twin boys, and the feeling I got was cold and distant. People working there are working by remote control, robot like. Going through their daily chores with boredom and agony. They’re not really mad at the world, they’re past that. It’s  a state of depression. A smile or anything positive is never seen. Wrong or not, I waited to give my children the opportunity to drive on their 16th birthday. I found during that junior year of high school that anything I asked them to do was dismissed as spoiled, irresponsible adolescent laziness, amongst other great adjectives, and the opportunity to drive was my enticement to get them to do what they needed to do and perhaps instill a sense of responsibility.  It didn’t work. When asked to do something, such as study for the SAT, they said they didn’t care about driving. They said that for a year. (Actually it’s one that answers, the other one doesn’t bother answering.)

So finally on their 17th birthday I gave in and we walked into the Motor Vehicle Agency with all the necessary documents to get a drivers permit. Suddenly they were interested in driving; they were unbelievably excited. After getting past the receptionist, we had the luck to be assisted by a Motor Vehicle Agency employee with a personality. I was shocked. But we answered her small talk questions about the boys and driving etc. (when you have twins this happens sometimes) and finally she handed us the two permits. I saw her ability to furnish us with two permits was a little bit of an effort because, perhaps, it required some extra thought processing. Plus the conversational skills must have overloaded her ability to concentrate for those few minutes. Bottom line, she never told us that what she handed us really wasn’t a permit. We found out later we needed to go to another Motor Vehicle Agency to complete the permit and then be able to practice driving before setting up a road test. Without knowing this, we walked out of the office and practiced driving for 6 months. We also had driving instructors during this time who also never told the boys about the permits or the road tests.

Six months later I went to make a drivers test appointment. I couldn’t do it online for some reason. Finally, I spoke to someone and they told me to go into the office. I went back to the same miserable office. The receptionist knew as much as I did. She thought it was the same numbers that I thought are necessary to make the appointment. She was angry that I told her that I tried that and it didn’t work. She sent me to the line I went to before, six months before. I waited my turn.

This lady behind the counter gave me a look. I can’t really describe this look. It wasn’t exactly hateful. It was the ugliest expression I ever saw. Probably a combination of anger and disgust. This was before I even spoke to her. I was just waiting on line! She was the supervisor. She didn’t understand my situation. She only knew what she does, nothing more. I needed to go to another office. You see, there was this other stamp that had to be on the other side of this paper, so even if we did everything we were supposed to do, there was nothing nobody could do to help us. There’s more to this story. There’s more employees and supervisors I had the opportunity to deal with in person, on the phone, and in letters. Including my son’s beautiful letters to Rush Holt and others. But even before all that, immediately, I needed to answer my children’s questions about government agencies, state governments, and governments in general and how they are run and their employees.

The employees of the Motor Vehicle Agency only know their own little, horrible job, not the big picture, not helping the customer, the agency, the taxpayer who pays their salary.

Yeah, there was another step that we left out and I didn’t carefully check, anticipating them screwing me up because, really, I, in affect left the responsibility to my children. In the 17 years olds’ defense and in my defense; no, Motor Vehicle does not tell you this in their documentation. You need  a magnifying glass to find this out. I’m sure this is not the best way to teach children about responsibility and the government’s inability to run anything or the fact that government is not equipped or should not be responsible for its citizens.

The same week that my children were about to have a breakdown over this ordeal we needed to go to three different doctors for three different injuries on three different body parts. This is what happens when your children play sports. It took a little maneuvering with school schedules and team practices and the fact that they don’t have licenses to drive themselves there. Additionally, it was tricky, but doable, to schedule because Orthopedic doctors specialize in specific body parts. Now one boy is in physical therapy and might need surgery in the future. The other is sitting on the sport’s team bench waiting for his next doctor’s appointment and his injury to get better.

Injuries are hard to endure, especially when it’s your children’s injuries. Can you imagine when the government has control over that part of our life too?

912 March in DC; We The People

912, 912 March, 912 Tea Party, Obamacare, politics, tea party No Comments

912 was really a day of hope.

There is a great feeling of accomplishment when you are able to act on something in addition to just following the news and talking about it.

We joined together on 912 in DC, and in other cities throughout  our country, and made a statement. No media outlet or politician can take that away from us.

In this world of hate and politics, filled with accusations and mockery, I want to point out the camaraderie we felt with one another on 912. The respect we had for one another and the mutual feeling that we were just so appreciative with everyone who made a great effort to join us on that day. Additionally, we thought of those that we knew who would have liked to be there and couldn’t. We were their representatives. This gave us the feeling that we accomplished even more and this movement will not end on this day.

Perhaps unintentionally this is the hope and change Obama referred to during his campaign. The power of we the people.

Van Jones: “Damned Good Disguise”

Health Insurance, Obamacare, healthcare plan, politics No Comments

I quote Van Jones in The Huffington Post article, “Van Jones Breaks Silence On Resignation: ‘Nothing But Love For Obama.”

“Of course, some supporters actually think I will be more effective on the “outside.” Maybe so. But those ideas always remind me of that old canard about Winston Churchill. After he lost a hard-fought election, a friend told him: “Winston, this really is just a blessing in disguise.” Churchill quipped: “Damned good disguise.” I can certainly relate to that sentiment right now.”

If you cheered in the streets that Van Jones left his Czar position, think again. He is laughing all the way to the bank and who knows how much power he still has? Check out Yid With A Lid’s article and the accusation that he was targeted because he is black!

Disguise is the key clue to our present government. As the disguise is revealed those that aren’t aware will find the true intentions of the Obama team.

Now we have Pelosi crying because she fears violence as a result of the disagreement with Obama’s policies. And Michelle practically in tears pleading with women’s groups to pass this healthcare bill. The disguise is evolving.

After the race card, I guess this is next card in the deck. Have the female politicians cry and play the women’s empathy card.

Thank You Joe Wilson for the Change We’ve Been Waiting For

It’s very ironic that they are asking for an additional apology. Should we start making a list of the apologies needed and the inappropriate, inaccurate apologies made since the start of this presidential campaign? (The campaign hasn’t ended at the advent of the presidency, so I start at that point.) I agree with Faultline USA’s article, One Apology Too Many.  Please read it. Joe Wilson should never have apologized the first time. Additionally, this article provides us northerners a background to where Joe Wilson and Jimmy Carter come from.

Personally, I feel like finally someone in DC opened their mouth and disagreed with the supreme powers in charge, the media reported it, and there are discussions in America about it. Actually it’s not discussions and more like a food fight. So the arena wasn’t the best choice, but America is listening now.

Are we ready to take on the real issues behind the accusations. Illegal immigration, racism, and a “sincere debate” as Carter referred to it, about health care? No one advocating a single payer system wants a sincere debate. If they wanted it why are they name calling? We’ll see increasingly more polarization between the two parties and America will be divided strongly. I’m hoping for long drawn out  debates in Congress. Maybe it could stretch out till the next recess and we could go back to Town Hall Meetings? Just a wish!

I believe it was Newsweek who reported that we are born racists. Actually the real accusation I believe is conservatives are born racists. I must disagree with that. I can’t say my children are conservatives, but even at a very young age, they couldn’t even recognize a black person. They are basketball fans and they couldn’t recognize Shaq as any specific color. Going to school with a multiracial group of children, they thought perhaps Indians were black. Racial discrepancy is learned from family and one’s environment. Those that bring up racial divisions are those that have an issue with race and are perhaps the racists. The 912 March in DC and the Town Hall Meetings were about bringing up issues and nothing to do with racial tensions.

Take a look at this article. The evening before of the 912 March I joined a “Meet and Tweet.” Here’s the segment I am referring to:

I was about to leave, but Judith Weiss from New York City–who had been proudly pointed out as a Jew, which was as close as the group came to diversity–flagged me down. “Can I tell you what I like about Obama?” she asked. “I think the fact that there’s a normal black family in the White House. … If he could make being nerdy fashionable among black kids, he will have done a good thing.” The women nodded in agreement. No racists here!

Perhaps this will give skeptics a different viewpoint to the intentions of the marchers and provide some insight to the incorrect accusations that racial tensions are behind those citizens that disagree with Obama’s policies.

As a matter of fact, can anyone disagree that there are certain citizens that voted for Obama specifically because of his race? If anyone wants to point fingers, they could be pointed right back to the accusers.

Obama campaigned on hope and change. I believe we are getting change. Not what he wanted though. We are seeing Democrats resorting to name calling. They are not really talking about the issues to convince the rest of us to agree with their policies, not writing the bill so we can read it and discuss it, and, in the case of healthcare, not implementing the changes they want to make. Not yet anyway. The Republicans have not been speaking out for the last nine months. Thank you Joe Wilson and the 912 March in DC for the change we’ve been waiting for. After all the bickering perhaps there is hope in the future?

Everyone I met in DC this 911 Weekend was so excited to have an opportunity to speak their mind. More than that, they were hoping to have their voice heard in DC and in America. It was outstanding and a great effort. We came from near and far. I met fellow citizens from all over the country and, in my opinion, probably more than anything else, we all had hope to have a voice.

The signs were great, the costumes where great and there were concerned citizens of all ages. I met the nicest people and I enjoyed hearing everyone’s stories. A wonderful woman came to celebrate her birthday because that’s how she wanted to celebrate by herself but with people that she connects with. I met someone who worked in a hospital in Massachusetts and I heard about the mandatory health insurance in the state. Stories about obtaining emergency health care in Canada, a single parent woman who finds it important to talk to women before they are about to have an abortion, a man told me about the corruption in the New Jersey welfare system. The list goes on and on. I’m getting my pictures together, but the one I included in this post was the last one taken before I left DC on September 13, the following day.

After the 912 March I collapsed on my hotel bed eager to see the coverage on the news. I was watching Fox and they had a short clip from the march and a one sentence coverage on it. I then learned about Obama’s Minneapolis Event on the same day. They knew exactly how many showed up and I heard his campaign for Obamacare and his warning of the scare tactics against it. It seemed like the world moved on.

Additionally, don’t forget, Obama addressed the nation last week selling Obamacare. It was as if the August Town Hall Meetings never existed.

It was wonderful that there was overwhelming participation and I’m ready to do it again next year or before. I have to say this. Was our message heard? Or is our message covered up and will policies go through even though the people are protesting against them?

This is why I made free speech bags. I want my message of freedom to be in their face everyday, not just on 912. We need to get louder, but in a smart way. Join me. Perhaps we can wake America up.

Obama’s Facts Are Not On His Side

Health Insurance, Obama, Obamacare, healthcare plan No Comments

This is a great article. Basically, it is pointed out repeatedly “he doesn’t explain”. Just keep that in mind. He doesn’t ever explain, because if he did, his supporters would actually understand what his motives are. What needs to be pointed out is the fact that there is a great discussion about health care and health care insurance. You can save your breath because it’s not even about that. All he is after is control and this gives him and his friends a great cover to do just that, control individuals and have them rely on him and his elected officials.

912 Taxpayer March

There has been discussions that there will be intimidation and fear tactics to try and stop peaceful demonstrations. Don’t let these measures stop you from attending this march and your ability to exercise your freedom of speech. Here’s the agenda. I hope to meet you there. Protect the freedoms we have, it might not be too far in the future that they will dissipate right in front of our eyes.

The Ultimate Control

Health Insurance, Obama, Obamacare, government control, healthcare plan No Comments

Sweetness & Light has an article that simply explains why government will have ultimate control over our lives if the government health care bill gets passed.

Additionally, here’s a great comment on this post:

Excellent summary of the House Death Care Bill:

A few items that caught my eye:

- Sec. 123, Pg. 30 – THERE WILL BE A GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE deciding what treatments and benefits you get.
- Sec. 152, Pg. 50-51 – HC will be provided to ALL NON-US citizens.
- Sec. 163, Pg. 58-59 beginning at line 5 – Government will have real-time access to individual’s finances & a National ID health care card will be issued!
- Sec. 164, Pg. 65 is a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in unions & community organizations (ACORN).
- Sec. 205, Pg. 95, Lines 8-18 – The government will use groups (i.e., ACORN & AmeriCorps) to “inform and educate” (sign up) individuals for government plan.
- Sec. 223, Pg. 124, Lines 24-25 – No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No “administrative of judicial review” against a government monopoly.
- Sec. 225, Pg. 127, Lines 1-16 – Doctors – the government will tell YOU what you can make. “The Secretary shall provide for the annual participation of physicians under the public health insurance option
- Sec. 401.59B, Pg. 167, Lines 18-23 – ANY individual who does not have acceptable care, according to government, will be taxed 2.5% of income.
- Sec. 59B, Pg. 170, Line 1 – Any NONRESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes. (Americans will pay for their health care.)
- Sec. 1156, Pg. 317, Lines 13-20 – “PROHIBITION on physician ownership or Investment.” Government tells doctors what/how much they can own.
- Sec. 1308, Pg. 489 – The government will cover Marriage and Family therapy. This will involve government control of your marriage.
- Sec. 1401, Pg. 503, Lines 13-19 – The government will build registries and data networks from YOUR electronic medical records. “The Center may secure directly from any department or agency of the United States information necessary to enable it to carry out this section.”
- Sec. 1501 (beginning), Pg. 659-670 – Doctors in Residency – government will tell you where your residency will be, thus where you’ll live.
- Sec. 1651, Pg. 734, Lines 16-25 – Proposes, for law enforcement sake, that the Secretary of HHS will give Attorney General access to ALL medical data.Sec. 440, Pg. 837-839 – The government will design and implement Home Visitation Program for families with young kids and families that are expecting children.
- Sec. 1904, Pg. 843-844 – This Home Visitation Program includes the government coming into your house and teaching/telling you how to parent!
- Sec. 2251, Pg. 915 – Government MANDATES cultural and linguistic competency training for HC professionals

That’s just a sample.

Beyond stunning.
